I don't know if i would define Spirituality as Tasawwuf, although spirituality is a center theme for them with their focus more on the soundess of the heart. The Quran says that it is a healing for our hearts. I believe that sufism has many vaild practices in how they praise God communally and try to create bonds through their shared sessions of praise. It is cultivating our love for God that brings us closer to him and we are told to build our bonds with each other. Communal praise is a perfect way to do this.
When you have performed the acts of worship prescribed for you, celebrate the praises of God as you celebrated the praises of your fathers, or even more fervently than that. There are some who say, Our Lord, give us abundance in this world. These shall have no share in the world to come.
So by mercy from Allah , [O Muhammad], you were lenient with them. And if you had been harsh [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult them in matters. And when you have decided, then rely upon Allah . Indeed, Allah loves those who rely [upon Him].
Salam, thanks for the reply. It would helpful to recognise the signs of closeness to Allah. I vaguely remember reading some ayahs. Sufis seem to have a final destination to journey i.e to become insan al-kamil (or wali ullah). But I'm not sure that the Koran talks about this. The word wali is used in the Koran. Not sure if it refers to this exactly. I think it has many meanings(?).
